Best Apps in the Ubuntu Software Center

You might have just installed Ubuntu on your computer, or you are wanting to install new apps. Well, here are the ones that I have installed on my computer from the Ubuntu Software Center that I would like to recommend to you.

Audio/Video

There are many audio and video editing applications available in the Ubuntu Software Center, to access them go to the category labeled "Audio & Video." Here are some of the best ones in there:

Audacity

Audacity is an audio recording and editing software, with it you can record any audio through your microphone, and edit it. The tools for editing are good.

OpenShot

OpenShot is a great tool for editing videos. It may not be the best, but it is great for simple needs.

VLC Media Player

You might have used this on Windows, well, it is on Ubuntu too, and it works great. VLC Media Player works great on Ubuntu, it supports many video files and is a great alternative to the default video application for Ubuntu.

Graphics & Photography

The Ubuntu Software center has great tools for editing photos, drawing art, and taking photographs.

GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP)

GIMP is a great tool for editing images on any platform. It has crop tools, drawing tools, shape tools, blur tools, etc. It is great for easily editing your images, so if you have any photo editing to do on your computer, I would recommend GIMP.

Inkscape

Inkscape is a vector editor, you can make and edit vector graphics. You can draw easily. I do not have too much experience with this software, so just try it out yourself.

Communication & News

Here are some of the best apps that are in the "Communication & News" category.

Chromium

Chromium is the open sourced version of Chrome. It works seamlessly with Ubuntu. You can sync with your Chrome bookmarks and setting easily, and you can easily install it from the software center unlike Chrome on Ubuntu. It has all of the normal features of Chrome, so if you like Chrome or you are unsatisfied with Firefox, you will like Chromium.

Games

There are many great games to play in the Ubuntu Software Center, too many to list here, but here are some of them.

FloboPuyo

FloboPuyo is a Tetris-like game available in the Software Center. It is a very fun game.

Frozen-Bubble

Frozen-Bubble is a bubble shooter game available in the software center,

There are many many more great apps in the software center. Try them.
